Is the colour consultation really complimentary?

Yes — it's included complimentary on every Ayre Coat painting project. There's no separate fee. If you'd like a standalone consultation without a painting project, we can arrange that too.

Do you bring samples to my home?

Yes. We bring large sample boards painted in the actual finish and place them on your walls, so you see the true colour in your space's light — not a tiny chip under store lights.

How does light affect paint colour?

Hugely. The same colour can look warm, cool, flat, or vibrant depending on the direction your windows face and the time of day. We study your light in person and recommend accordingly.

What if I don't like the colours you recommend?

That's the point of the consultation — we work through options with you until you're confident. You move into painting knowing exactly what you're getting.

What It Is

What colour consultations solves

Choosing the right colour is the single highest-impact decision in any paint project — and the easiest to get wrong. Ayre Coat's colour consultations take the guesswork out of it. We bring sample boards to your space, study how natural and artificial light move through each room, and recommend finishes and palettes that suit your home's character and how you actually live in it. It's expert advice, included complimentary on every project.

Common problems we fix

You're overwhelmed by the number of paint colours and finishes available
A colour looked perfect in the store but looks wrong on your walls
You're not sure how light will affect a colour at different times of day
You want a cohesive palette across multiple rooms but don't know where to start
You're torn between a few shades and want a professional second opinion

Our Process

How we approach colour consultations

A clear, repeatable process tailored to this service — so you know what's happening at every step.

On-Site Visit

We come to your home, walk each room with you, and study how natural and artificial light hits the walls at different times of day — the factor that changes how a colour actually looks.

Sample Boards

We bring large sample boards of your shortlisted colours and place them on the actual walls, so you see the true colour in your space — not a tiny chip under fluorescent store lights.

Palette & Finish Plan

We recommend a cohesive palette and the right sheen for each surface — flat, eggshell, satin, or semi-gloss — chosen for how you live and how each room is used.

Confidence & Warranty

You move into painting knowing exactly what you're getting, and the finish is backed by our written warranty. No second-guessing, no costly repaints.

Materials & Options

The right products for this work

We choose materials for the specific demands of this service — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Premium Sample Boards

Large, true-colour sample boards painted in the actual finish — not paper chips — so you see how the colour and sheen will really look on your walls.

Finish & Sheen Guidance

We match the right sheen to each surface — washable satin for high-traffic areas, matte for ceilings, durable semi-gloss for trim — for both looks and practicality.

Whole-Home Palettes

For multi-room projects we design a cohesive palette that flows from room to room, so your home feels intentional and connected rather than a collection of one-off colours.
